American Association of Petroleum Geologists

Description
Roles
I served as the UNL AAPG Chapter Vice President. In this position, I advocated for the club to my classmates and helped plan geologic trips around the midwest. My favorite trip was to the Kansas Salt Mines, where we took a dozen undergraduate and graduate members to learn about ancient salt deposition in a dried-up sea. On top of planning trips like this, I helped organize and give updates during meetings and promote the love of geosciences throughout my university.
Takeaways
I solidified my passion for geosciences and inspired many others to follow suit. I made many strong bonds within my department with other visiting geologists. Because of these connections, I found many career paths that incorporate both my geologic and engineering backgrounds. I discovered that environmental engineering is what makes me most passionate and that geology is incredibly dynamic with lots to still learn.
