Engineering Student Advisory Board

Description

The Engineering Student Advisory Board is made up of undergraduate students, freshmen to seniors, representing every department within the College of Engineering. Our membership consists of representatives from student organizations and students from within the College of Engineering at large. The students of the College of Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, do hereby ordain and establish this undergraduate Engineering Student Advisory Board for the betterment of the college, both through academic excellence and the creation of an enriched extracurricular environment.

Roles

I served as a member from 2017 to 2021 and served as the Environmental Team Officer from 2019 to 2021. As a member, I supported our Student Life Committee that planned inclusive and engaging events for the engineering student population such as dodgeball tournaments, trivia nights, and Easter egg competitions. These events allowed me to connect and interact with a diverse group of engineers from different disciplines. As the Environmental Team Officer, I planned and organized green initiatives within the UNL college of engineering such as trash pickup days, fundraising for ecofriendly power sources, and campaigns to educate students about campus sustainability initiatives.

Takeaways

I loved being apart of eSAB. This group is an amazing network of engineers that are all seeking to make the UNL college and the world a better place. I made many connections and became more conscientious of my decisions as an engineer. I learned to have an ethically questioning mindset and always ask tough questions.
