Environmental Sustainability Committee

Description

The Environmental Sustainability Committee (ESC) was created in 2010 to increase student input on environmental issues at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Since then, the committee has taken a leading role in transforming UNL into a more sustainable university through policy change, various projects, education, and community involvement.

Roles

I was a mentor for the subcommittee, Environmental Leadership Program, from 2016 to 2017. Here I inspired others to initiate sustainability projects and helped lead many environmental projects myself including trash pickups, earth day celebrations, and environmental outreach events.

Takeaways

The organization is where I found my true passion to protect the environment and was reassured of this goal when I surrounded myself with environmentally conscious peers.
