Museum Ambassadors

09/01/2018

Description

The State Museum Student Ambassador Program consists of 10-12 students that act as liaisons for visitors to the museum. Members will learn more about the natural sciences and museums while sharpening their leadership and communication skills. The Museum Ambassadors create links between the museum, the university, and the greater Lincoln community. Through their participation in outreach events, programs, and museum tours, Student Ambassadors help raise awareness of the museum and the natural sciences.

Roles

I was a member from 2018 to 2019 and helped with many volunteering outreach programs and museum improvement initiatives. I renewed and updated many of the specimen's labels to reflect advancing knowledge in the field of science. I also organized and ran children's events and tours to the museum.

Takeaways

I learned that science is always advancing and that you need to be adaptable and open-minded. Moreover, I discovered that I love teaching others about STEM topics and sharing my knowledge with the public.
