Description

In an uncertain, globalized world, great students need to take risks, experiment, and push themselves. The University Honors Program helps students do this by providing small, interactive, and interdisciplinary seminars and a continuum of hands-on experiences. From participating in Global Dialogues abroad to investing in Nebraska through community-based internships and after school clubs to full-time co-ops and leadership opportunities, the University Honors Program's customizable education allows students to make the most of their college career by choosing experiences, classes, and work opportunities that allow them to live their passions.

Roles

I was a member of the UNL Honors program from 2016-2020. I was admitted at the end of my senior year in high school based upon my academic accolades including GPA and ACT score. I lived in the historic honors dormitory in Niehardt Hall and meet many lifelong friends here. I continued to uphold the values and academic achievement of the honors program throughout college. I earned a cumulative of 30 honors class hours and completed an honors thesis. Additionally, I stayed very involved in the program by joining several honors clubs including Peer Mentors and Honors Ambassadors.

Takeaways

Being apart of the Honors program immersed me in a progressive and nurturing community. I grew as a person, discovered how I worked best with others, how to be most efficient, and what direction I should take my life. I loved the people and staff within the honors program because they care about others and want to see you succeed.
